Spring Break 2014

Congratulations to Eric on his new job as Assistant Principal at the new high school!  Elizabeth will be attending this school with him next year.  We are excited!  He had to work over Spring Break but the kids look forward to making lots of memories with him at this school.
Sarah had her slumber party over Spring Break.  She was so surprised when she cut into this rainbow birthday cake.
The kids enjoyed time catching up with old friends.  Above picture at the Studio Movie Grill.
Catherine ready to beat everyone at Top Golf.
The kids were ready for daddy to go back to work after he beat everyone at bowling!
The weather was nice most of the week so they enjoyed being outdoors at the park, taking walks and playing sports.
William is too excited about the Tooth Fairy to think about going back to school tomorrow.  He lost two teeth over Spring Break.

Congratulations to Sarah and her Lionettes volleyball team for going undefeated (5 wins) and receiving 1st Place in their pre-season tournament. This is the first time Sarah has won a championship!  She is still grinning from ear to ear!  Way To Go, Sarah!

Happy Birthday

 Happy 12th Birthday to Sarah!
After church she chose lunch at Texas Roadhouse.
She was a good sport in front of everyone as they wished her a Happy Birthday!
A friend of mine is making a birthday cake for her slumber party.  She also made Sarah cake balls to eat today.  They were so good.  We can't wait to see her cake.
Twelve years ago today, Sarah surprised us during a Texas ice storm!  We relived that ice storm this afternoon.  It was nice to have a relaxing day at home even though Elizabeth beat us at Clue.  The kids are super excited that school is canceled tomorrow.  That news was the perfect ending to Sarah's big day!

Great Grandpa Green

Rev. R. Edwin Green passed away on February 12, 2014, in Allen, Texas, at the age of 97.
R. Edwin Green was born on October 5, 1916, in Randolph County, Indiana, to Euphis and Bessie (Byrum) Green. He grew up and graduated from High School in Union City, Indiana. Throughout his youth, he was very active in the local Methodist Church which influenced him to enter the ministry. He was granted a Local Preachers License by the Richmond District of the North Indiana Methodist Conference on April 19, 1934, while still in high school.
He graduated from Indiana University as a history major. He was active in the Wesley Foundation, the University Committee on Religion, and assisted in worship at a First Methodist Church near campus. His graduated from Boston University School of Theology with graduate degrees in both history and theology. He, also, attended both Harvard University and Oxford University in England. In 1939 he was selected as a delegate to the World Conference of Christian Youth in Amsterdam and had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe by bicycle.
He wed Mary Agnes Penrod of Marion, Indiana, on April 30, 1944. Together they served in various Methodist pastorates in Indiana. Four children were born to this family: John Wesley, Philip Benjamin, Thomas Jeremy, and Susan Elizabeth. Mary and Edwin Green retired to St. Simons Island, Georgia, in 1980. There Edwin was able to pursue his interest in history and Mary her interest in art. They authored and illustrated the book ST. SIMONS ISLAND, A SUMMARY OF ITS HISTORY and successfully distributed it through seven printings and over 18,000 copies. Edwin taught the history of the Islands for Elderhostel and was a Historical Interpreter at Fort Frederica National Monument. They were, also, faithful members of the St. Simons Island United Methodist Church.
After spending 29 years on St. Simons Island, Mary and Edwin moved to the Texas to be closer to children. However, St. Simons Island was home. Upon her death in 2010, Mary's cremains were interred at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens on St. Simons Island. Edwin will join his wife of 66 years at Oglethorpe Gardens where, together, they will watch over the Green family from above.
Survivors include: children, John W. Green (wife Sandy), Philip B. Green (wife Barbara), Thomas J. Green (wife Jane) and Susan E. Wilkerson (husband Scott); seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Agnes Green, two brothers, a sister, and two grandchildren.

We love you Great Grandpa Green!

Science Fair

Congratulations to Elizabeth and her friend, Cayla, for receiving 1st Place in the Science Fair at their school.  We spent Saturday at Fair Park in downtown Dallas at the Regional Science Fair.  Above picture of Elizabeth and Cayla with their science teacher.
We took Elizabeth out afterward to celebrate all her hard work.  Our waiter was awesome and made sure we had plenty to drink!
Way to Go, Elizabeth!

Winter Madness

It has been basketball in our house for the past couple of months.  Guess I should not be surprised that all my kids love basketball!  Eric decided to step back a little this year and not try to coach all their teams.  He has enjoyed being a dad in the stands and still gets to help coach during their practices.  Above picture of William playing for the Rhinos.
Sarah is playing for the Hoopsters with friends from her old school.  Above picture of Sarah playing defense.  She had four fouls in this game!  Sarah recently enjoyed learning new moves from the Harlem Globetrotters.
Elizabeth is playing on the 8th grade "A" team.  She has been working hard everyday after school and hopes to make the high school team next year.  Elizabeth was recently chosen to shoot a basket at the school pep rally.  The principal said he would sing karaoke if Elizabeth makes the shot.  She made it!!!
Friday night we watched the high school girls basketball team at Eric's school clinch a playoff spot.  The high school boys basketball team also won the district championship.  We are looking forward to playoff excitement in the coming weeks!  GO Coyotes!

Rising Freshman Night

Elizabeth has been preparing her course selection guide for high school.  Tonight we took a tour of the high school during Rising Freshman Night.  She got to meet all the teachers, principals (her dad!), counselors and learn about all the clubs and organizations.  She is excited!  Can't believe our baby girl will be in high school soon!

Happy Birthday

Yesterday was my 29ish birthday!  It started bright and early as Sarah had to be on the court by 7:30am for a basketball game.  Her team won so it was worth it!  Afterward I came home to lots of wonderful birthday presents!
Elizabeth is a great teenage sibling wanting to get up early to watch their games!
Eric gave me a gift card to the spa!  He's the best!
After gifts we headed back to the court to watch William.  His game was exciting but he lost by 2 points.  :-(  I love watching them play even when they lose.
We had a nice family dinner at Mellow Mushroom.  It is a new place on the square.  So good!  Sarah reversed the camera on her iPod to get a family picture.  If you look closely you can see our waiter is photobombing us!!
Now we know why our waiter was so willing to take our picture!
Then it was time for my Dairy Queen Butterfinger Blizzard birthday cake.  Best. Cake. Ever!
 Annual Silly Picture
Thank you to everyone for making it a fun and special day!

Happy New Year

My Mean Green Eagles played Eric's Aggies in basketball on New Years Eve so we decided to take a family trip to Aggieland.  It's not often our schools play each other.  Since it was New Years we got a nice suite and made some special family memories.  Above picture of the kids at one of our many favorite restaurants in College Station.
We went down early to watch the women's basketball game too.  William was chosen to be the Tip Off Boy!  He was so cute.  They announced his name and gave him free Taco Bell.  He also got an Aggie shirt and was on the Jumbo Tron.  Unfortunately, I did not take my camera on this trip.
New Years Eve day we attended the UNT vs A&M men's basketball game.  North Texas gave the Aggies a lesson in Basketball 101.  It was a fun game.  Eric was ready to go home but thankfully his football team somehow beat Duke that night and we had a happy ending to our trip!
